Resolve was recently asked to become a partner for the new University Technical College, due to open in Sheffield in 2013.
The college is aimed at educating the next generation of innovators in Advanced Engineering, Manufacturing and Creative & Digital Media. As reported by the BBC, the college will be able to train 600 students and will work with employers including Boeing, Newburgh Engineering and Tata Steel.
At Resolve we work hard at training and developing our own staff, and we have been running our apprenticeship programme for the past three years with great success. We've been fortunate enough to see the exciting growth of our apprentices, with them really beginning to realise their potential. All of the five apprentices we've taken on are still with us; one is now a Team Leader!
I believe that if we can continue to grow a well-trained, loyal, motivated and effective workforce we will continue to grow year on year, and I see the UTC as a key part in developing those future employees, not just for Resolve but for the industry as a whole.
As the owner of a relatively young business, I am proud to support such a fantastic new initiative, and I am looking forward to working with the UTC to help develop the next generation of employees.
