Have you noticed how the Microsoft Office suite applications have a tendency to change manually typed web addresses or emails into hyperlinks?
If you didn't want this to happen then it's a frustrating waste of time and can cause formatting nightmares!
However, there is a handy and quick solution to prevent this from happening, here's how to do it in your favorite Office applications*:
- In Microsoft Office Word 2010, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Options.
- Click Proofing, and then click AutoCorrect Options.
- On the AutoFormat as you type tab and on the AutoFormat tab, click to clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box, and then click OK.
- Click OK to close the Word Options dialog box.
- In Microsoft Office Word 2007, follow these steps:
- Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
- Click Proofing, and then click AutoCorrect Options.
- On the AutoFormat as you type tab and on the AutoFormat tab, click to clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box, and then click OK.
- Click OK to close the Word Options dialog box.
If you're after a way to do this in Excel or Powerpoint, then you'll find if you follow these instructions for those applications you will be met with equal success too! For older versions of Office, please see the below link.
